Details

The HI84433-55M is a 100 mL bottle of pump calibration standard solution that is used to calibrate the dosing system of the HI84433 mini titrator.

The content of amino acids and other nitrogen compounds in wine or fruit juice is determined by an acid base titration to a fixed pH endpoint and expressed as total assimilable nitrogen. The determination of formol number is possible only after neutralization of the titratable acids present by a pH adjustment with HI84433-51 reagent, followed by the blockage of the amino groups by reaction with the HI84433-60 formol base reagent. The titration is then performed with the HI84433-50 titrant solution.

Formol number of wine and fruit juice, as performed on the HI84433 mini titrator, utilizes a simple sample preparation, a high quality titrant dosing pump, potentiometric endpoint detection, and automatic computations. To maintain the high precision of the titrator, a simple pump calibration procedure is required. To achieve precise results, the instrument occasionally requires a pump recalibration. The pump calibration involves the analysis of a known volume of a known solution and compensates for changes in pump dosing that may occur due to many factors including tube stretching or aging. This procedure should be performed regularly with the HI84433-55M pump calibration solution to accurately determine the formol number of wines and fruit juices.
