A nutritious broth for the cultivation of aerobic, microaerophilic and anaerobic microorganisms.

Oxygen diffuses into the top of the tube allowing the growth of aerobes, whilst obligate anaerobes will only grow in the lower areas of the tubes. Microaerophilic organisms will grow in a thin layer between the two. The low level of agar reduces oxygen diffusion into the medium.
